LOYOLA “Ola” GALLARDO, RN,  BSN, PHN

A case manager for the California Children’s Services (CCS), Ola was recently honored as the “2007 Most
Outstanding Employee” in recognition for her exemplary work in serving the people of Los Angeles County.

CCS is a statewide program funded by federal, state and county tax monies  that provides health care and other
services for children with certain physical limitations and chronic health conditions.

Working as the team leader of the CCS Nursing Quality Improvement Team, Ola has consistently maintained an up-
to-date caseload and conducted chart reviews over and above team requirements. To improve compliance with
state performance measures, Ola is credited for developing an innovative concept that enabled her team to reach
100% compliance. Her system is now widely adopted by other working teams and has greatly improved overall
compliance on performance measures from 40% to 74%.

Ola has received numerous citations for helping CCS clients and for tireless committee work. For the past five
years, she has been accorded the highest marks on employee performance evaluation. A member of the CCS
Christmas Donation Committee, Ola has devoted personal time to collect and distribute clothing, toys and
household appliances  to underprivileged families.

As a leader, a team player and an organizer, Ola maintains rapport with team members and clients alike. By
coordinating services, patients receive maximum program benefits needed for their medical condition. She is
actively involved in teaching nurses and she organizes events to recognize individual team members.  Respected
by clients and peers and with that warm and bubbly personality, Ola is well liked.

“Sharing success and wealth gives its value” is her personal philosophy in life.  Working for LA County for the past
ten years, Ola finds job satisfaction and fulfillment in helping people.

Married to Richard Gallardo, they have two highly achieving children, Jackie ( age 19) and Richard III (age 15). She
enjoys being with her family at her spare time. Both Ola and Richard are founding members of the Candonians of
Southern California, Inc.and are actively involved in the activities of the organization.

On behalf of the officers, members and friends of the Candonians of Southern California, Inc.,  we wish
to extend heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Ola. You honor us all for a job well done!  (F.P.
