As promised to everyone, all attendees experienced another (the 2nd INCARI) joyful reunion with families, classmates, playmates and friends from our beloved hometown – now Candon City. The presence of Congressman Eric and wife Grace, Mayor Allen and wife Freda, Vice Mayor Nestor, councilors and Msgr. Vicente Avila (Candon City Parish priest) and Fr. Lito de la Cruz (Candonian pastor priest in Sacramento, California) completed the wondrous merriment and solemnity of the 3-day event. The Hawaiian dance----Vancouver, Canada, Line Dance----Toronto, Canada Fashion show (Candonian style)----So. California, Songs by the Candon City Group Rap song/dance----Machonurins of No. California plus other song/dance contribution were cheered loudly. Such untapped talents were a sight to behold! Thanks to Lilia Ramos Alog, husband Willie/sons and company who were the relentless energizers of INCARI 2009. Kudos! October 11, 2009 (Sponsor – Candonians of Las Vegas) Mass, Brunch, General Meeting. The mass was con-celebrated by Msgr. Vicente Avila and Fr. Lito de la Cruz – where the Candonians did not forget to thank the good Lord for all the blessings, intercessions for the flood victims of Candon, other countrymen and prayers for a safe trip for Candonians going back home – near and far. General Meeting Venues for the next INCARI were selected (Candon City, Cruise & Las Vegas) and Las Vegas, NV was chosen again – to be held in October 2011. Enjoy viewing the videos/shows/pictures of the above at www.tagacandon.com COMMENTS & OPINIONS: INCARI BY THE SEA (CRUISE) Please consider it in the future. For the last 5-6 years, a group of Candonians had mini- reunions in a cruise at the Mediterranean, Hawaii, Scandinavian/Russia, Alaska and Israel in November. Dodong & I joined them in the last 2 cruises (Pictures of the cruisers are in the souvenir program). The pleasure of the company of fellow-Candonians in these cruises was immeasurable – developing closer relationships after our land tours, special breakfast/luncheons celebrating wedding anniversary (Frank/Violet Quismorio), birthday (Sally Martinez Garibay) and Filipino luncheon prepared especially for us. Filipinos abound in these cruise ships including 2 from Caterman, Candon City. Even Pilma Llanes Abelardo from Austria joined us too. Please contact Cenci Dario Nuccio (So. Cal) or the website for future cruises. We are accorded group discounts. CANDON CITY – Another venue for INCARI to consider. It is an opportunity to meet again and enjoy our “kailians” who resides in the Philippines. We suggest the same format – 3 day affair. We will welcome all Candonians. We personally suggest to build an INCARI fund (donations) to defray the INCARI fees, etc. for other Candonians in the Philippines who are unable but willing to join the INCARI due to limited income. Yes, it is a little bit more expensive for Candonians from USA, Canada and other foreign countries to go to Candon for an INCARI.. Variety is the spice of life. Please consider these other venues for future INCARI's. Just like any other reunion, “makaumay laeng apo diay makaumay”. As we look back, it is amazing to find these Candonians around the world who have worthily established themselves. It shows the diversity of talents – careers in government, foreign service, medicine, engineering, military, health, business, finance, customers service, etc. We are proud of all of you! What matters is what we are now, not what we are before or where we lived in Candon. And I am sure that many of us share God’s blessings to our families, fellow-Candonians and Candon City. Candon City has been transformed into a better place economically, thanks to our government officials and has made its mark prominently in Ilocandia – still the commercial center of the Ilocos Region. May all Candonians know the love and good that come with peace and brotherhood! May the good Lord continue to bless you all and your families. Until we meet again, somewhere – sometime. “Dios ti ag-ngina, Apo”. Dodong/Susan (Fabros) Abaya Lambertville, MI (2 miles north of Toledo,OH) U S A |
